I had surgery for a bunion that was considered severe due to how many degrees off normal it was.
I had surgery for a bunion that was considered severe due to how many degrees off normal it was. Yesterday I had my last physical therapy appointment. I went from 34 percentage of foot usage to 96 percent since May. Praise the Lord!! I have zero pain now. My foot still swells a little and I am aware my second toe is bending left but that is from when I fell with the k-wire in it. Looking forward to 100 percent usage by 1 year. I had surgery because of pain and no other reason. If you just had surgery, it does get better in most cases. Hang in there!! I want to thank everyone for your input along the way as to what to do. This group has been amazing!!

Jenn, that’s such great news. I’m very happy for your positive outcome!
Are you in the UK? Would love to know more about how you get the usage back so much. My surgery was a great success, but I wasn't offered any PT, so my toe is still stiff (no pain at all) and I'd love to get that movement back!
Happy to read this. Im one week post op 🙈🙏
Amen! 🙌
Great news!
That's Great news! I'm finally recovered from my surgery now which was in April now swimming three times a week and walking so much better and pain free it's great! Xxxx
Awesome! Yes praise the Lord!!
that doesn't surprise me if you were 15. I have a plate and screws in my foot. I am 61. I was diagnosed with bunions in my early 20s. I got orthodics in my late 20s/early 30s. Best to you with your upcoming surgery!

I am so glad to have met you through this. It has been a long haul and it isn't over yet but so worth it! I still can't bend my second toe but I am not sweating about that. Some how that bone fused weird which is preventing me from bending it. He offered to fix it but I said, "No thanks." With my luck I would fall again and cause more damage lol
I am in the United States. I had to do physical therapy or I wouldn't be able to use my foot and ankle so well. My insurance paid for it. I believe there might be some tutorials on YouTube. A lot of the exercises had to do with using a resistance band to build muscle and flexibility back.
thank you!
do what the doctor tells you and you will do fine. I had some setbacks because I fell on my crutches the first week without my Aircast on. Then I put my knee up on my rollator for 6 weeks because no one told me not to. His PA said no weight so I didn't for 6 weeks. It was only supposed to be for three weeks for me. The podiatrist and I had a long talk because I needed physical therapy after not putting weight on my foot that long. I learned a lot and spoke only to him after that. If his nurse called me, I told her he said to send my questions directly to him and he would call me. She would get upset but he did call me and told her to send all messages to him. I am now glad I spoke up and also that I had this surgery. You can do this!! I am 61. Don't be afraid to ask questions. You are paying the surgeon's salary. Keep that in mind. It helped me feel less guilty.
I am soooooooo happy for you!! I wondered how you were doing.
thank you. With God all things are possible!!
