⚠️ **Warning: Long post ahead.** ⚠️ So I finally had my MIS procedure (soft tissue correction of the hallux valgus) in London, UK. Today I'm writing this for anyone who is thinking about embarking on a similar adventure. I recently turned 50 and have had my bunions since people listened to music on shiny digital discs called CDs. But over the last few years or so I've experienced growing discomfort; especially after a long day of walking and had to reduce my mileage as a runner... But I believe we ALL have a right to walk pain free! Physical activity and gentle movement will be an integral part of my healing process. So prior to surgery I focused on lower bodyweight & core exercises including; calf raises, glute bridge and dead bugs. The surgery itself was as smooth as a Strawberry milkshake from McDonald's; as I was not only able to weight-bear, but I had a great extended conversation with the hospital physio who told me the importance of elevating my legs, rest, gentle exercise and current Netflix recommendations (yes...I'm being serious 😅) Although, it hasn't all been as perfect as your smile, as after a while I did feel a weird mix of hunger, thirst and nausea...but I'm hoping that will subside soon? The NHS staff at Epsom Hospital were absolutely wonderful, especially taking into account they're also working through a heatwave. 🔥🥵 It's literally Day 1... I'm not sure if there is any point to posting daily? As my 8 & 5 year old seems to be ignoring the fact that I move like the hunchback of Notre Dame... But I will post periodically in the hopes that it may ease concerns of anyone who wants to do this...so they can weigh up the pros and cons for themselves. But what I will say is... try not to book bunion surgeries that might clash with an unprecedented heatwave! 😂😂😂 Look after yourselves my friends. **Warning: Long post ahead.** So I finally had my MIS procedure (soft tissue correction of the hallux valgus) in London, UK. I had the 3rd surgery in April, still in pain every day, still swollen. I was never told that after hammertoe surgery my toe would no longer bend. I'm so happy for anyone that has had success with MIS or Lapiplasty, but for me it's been a complete, disappointing failure, and now my foot not only feels bad, but looks bad too.☹️ Very Disappointed Have to say, after 3 surgeries in 3 years with 2 different Dr's, podiatrist and orthopedic surgeon, I'm disappointed and just disgusted at this point.
