Mine is only just my left foot my right foot so far has been fine and I drink collagen every morning for the last 2 1/2 years but my foot still acts up about every 4-5 months. I get a steroid injection in my foot when it gets to the point I can’t walk on it.

Why would my plantar fasciitis completely disappear (I thought it was because I started Vitamin D and B12 supplements) but then flare back up a year later? And why is it always just my right foot? I’m post menopausal and if really has to do with collagen loss, wouldn’t that affect both feet?

You have a biomechanical dysfunction that hasn’t been corrected Menopause affects metabolic load…metabolic load can affect biomechanics...biomechanics affect PF. You need to break the cycle by strengthening your posterior chain and correcting your load issue
I guess it was a nerve damage and it repaired itself when you took vitamins
Same. Only one foot, disappeared.
Mine is right foot only too, plus I’m post menopausal. I have early stage hip osteoarthritis on left side so all the limping from that has put load on my opposite foot. Could you have any hip or back problems?
Wearing poor shoe selection . Get a wide towbox shoe. Mine did the same. Im male tho. Three years later it came back Wearing cheap shoes. But.. Everyone is different. That's the catch.
How are the vitamins related?
My problem is always my left heel it comes on suddenly it’s really painful so I can’t even weightbare at all it lasts about 6 days then it disappears again then 5-6 weeks later the same thing I’m wondering if it’s gout ?
I take collagen every day and mine started when I stepped on acorns. Gets better with wrap, and cold water bottle roll under my foot.
I had PF a few years ago in my right foot pretty bad and had to get a cortisone shot which did nothing. I can’t remember what I did exactly but it eventually went away. Then a couple of months ago, I decided to buy Skechers work shoes with arch support that are designed for restaurant workers. I was helping a friend with a few events where I knew I’d be on my feet for at least 10 hours at a time. After two days of wearing them my PF came back so I know for a fact it was those shoes. I’ve worn different shoes with out as much support and my foot was totally fine during long days I’d be in my feet. I was trying to “prevent” any damage by getting those sketchers and they actually caused it for me. So it could be your shoes.
MysticalPhoenix2855 that makes sense because about the same time it started again, I noticed I’m getting a bunion on the right great toe!
How do you correct loading/ gait issues? No podiatrist, chiropractor or PT has addressed this with me and I do think it’s a contributing factor for me. I have back issues also
MysticalPhoenix2855 wanted you to know the ChatGPT suggest 4!easy exercises to help with this, I’ve done them twice and my foot is already feeling better. I’ve always naturally toed out so I’m being mindful of that as I exercise. Thank you!!!
its like a puzzle but once you figure it out, it’s so gratifying. If I may suggest, start with your foundation: wide toebox shoes, toe socks and toe spacers Get some toe bands and exercise resistance bands and strengthen your chain from your back to your toes. AI can make you a daily posterior chain strengthening routine per your age and size. Or if you need that extra push, PT is great as long as you’re consistent with it Best of Luck
MysticalPhoenix2855 - thank you!!
see my above response to Sandy. I will say the single most productive exercise in my routine was walking backwards on a treadmill 4 or 5 times a week/20-30 min each day. Clinical studies show that walking backwards corrects biomechanics/posture and reduces PF pain. Plus you burn 20-40% more calories than walking fwd at the same speed. Research it. Try it. Best of luck
MysticalPhoenix2855 What is a good YouTube video to see backwards walking? Thank you
not sure..I'm sure there are a ton on YouTube though...I just researched it and implemented it into my routine...it's not difficult...I just put it on a speed I felt comfortable with and set the incline at 4%...I will say my hips, glutes, and entire leg muscles got rock solid in 2 months time. And my feet thanked me for it
I asked Chat GPT and it gave me instructions for 4 exercises to start - a few for the calves and glutes and hamstrings. Started today!!
Don't overlook foot exercise either...it's important to strengthen the area around the planar fascia. Foot exercises to search: -Toe yoga -Big toe exercises -Arch building exercises -Top of foot stretching -Ankle mobility exercises Keep in mind that it took your feet a long time to fail you...so it's going to take a long time to build back...don't look for day to day progress...but rather week over week or month over month... massages are beneficial too...stay the course with a full posterior chain routine and build on it...be consistent...and embrace the process
MysticalPhoenix2855 thank you
i got the hip arthritis back arhritis an Achilles issue. Been going to pt an iceing it
- have never had hip, knee or back issues. But my feet have turned out my whole life (slew footed). Maybe it’s just catching up with me?
well I'm a server and I have always bought expensive shoes with good arch supports for work. Now I have been known to wear flip-flops and go barefoot. Which now I wear a arch support flip flop the minute my feet hit the floor and it's made a lot of difference until I'm on my feet for a lot of hours and if I'm on my feet for a lot of hours nothing seems to help.
what type of arch support flip flops?
l know that B12 deficiency causes neurological symptoms in peripheral areas
- My D3 is for bones and B12 is for neuropathy . You can overdose on D so get your labs done but excess B13 is eliminated in your urine.
mine is cuz last year I walked with flip flops on uneven ground!!! Now I dont an im screwxx
I tried everything for 18 months. It cost me a small fortune, but it wasn’t until I went onto BHRT and after three months, it started to clear up slowly and then by six months it was gone.
I've had it several times, first time when I was in my 30's. It went away without me doing anything, other than finding a different job where I wasn't on my feet all day. It has flared up several times since then, always going away as quick as it came on. This last time it started after working from home in 2020 and who knows what caused it. I feel like it was from wearing crocs all the time and since I was told to never go barefoot, it prolonged it. I'm back to barefoot now and it's the relief I needed. Anyway, I had it before and after menopause so I don't feel like it was a factor, for me.
It’s all about biomechanics of the foots XRAY with wight bearing for both feet to see the difference and through that make insole for both feet
Recent lab testing my vitamins were actually too high. They told me to stop supplementing extra vitamins so mine is not from lack of B. Plantar fasciitis and neuropathy and a lot of things and arthritis are really bad in my feet.
Take Magnesium 400mg , Creatine , sms and infared boot therapy
I wear barefoot shoes with a arch insert and my feet do a lot better. Not horrible but not super duper. Just kinda ok.
I have this same problem. I have always had the pain in both feet though when I would get flare ups and now it's everyday extreme pain in my right foot that I think it takes away from my other foots pain at this point. I did get an ultrasound recently though and I have a cyst in that foot so that's my only guess as to why the pain is intense there. Definitely go see a doctor.
Mine went away from both feet and returned in one foot.
I had surgery two years ago on a foot and I was in a wheelchair for a month and a boot for a month. Because I wasn't able to move or exercise the foot I developed it and then it went over to the other foot as well had it for two years took nine sessions of acupuncture got 80% better. Had surgery again on the same foot but at this time a toe. The other foot for some reason was 100% better and the surgery foot relapsed a little bit to maybe 50% better. I haven't even returned to acupuncture or do dry needling. It's been two months since that surgery and the only thing I've done is do the ABCs with each foot exercise on my bed. Now the surgery foot is probably 95% better miraculously so I'm almost back to no pain as if I never had it. I don't understand it. It's weird, but I'm happy.
if I wear Skechers my pain comes back indeed. I am now using only new balance shoes with laces that give more support
I really think excessive arch support and/or too much cushion is not helpful at all.
I think the same thing happened to me from wearing the sketchers arch fit sneaker. Never again will I wear that brand
my podiatrist specifically told me NOT to wear sketchers!
i have flat feet..no way can I do sketchers. I bought some years ago.. they hurt. Still in my closet. I probably wore them 1 or 2 times.
I just got Brooks Adrenaline 25 and so far so good. Last year I wore Merrill sneakers and they were great and then earlier this year I wore Easy Spirit walking dress shoes which I wore a lot on days I was on my feet all day and the sole was thinner but has some arch support and not too cushioned. To my shock my feet did pretty well in those. But those sketchers disappointed me. Just didn’t agree with my foot.
I agree with you both mine was doing a lot better and decided to order Skechers for work thinking they would be great and supportive and they absolutely backtracked me so bad pain wise in my feet soon as I switched to a different brand it got better again
they have no cushion
adrenaline are pretty good, but ghost have been better. They’re a bit farther into the cushioned side of the cushion-support ratio, but only a little.
when all this heal pain started this year I was buying all different types of insoles from cvs. Waste of money. Im back to the old rubber ones I bought yrs ago. Alot of better. The ones I got at cvs have no cushion at all. An those koprex things you put on feet..you need scissors to get them off. My physical therapist told me not to use them they inhibit blood flow.
What is BHRT?
what is BHRT
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (plant based so it’s closer to being more like the body I guess) I didn’t want to do this synthetic HRT

is that like alge cal?
ExcellentEagle1435 same thing happened to me. My liver counts went very high, and ended up with extreme swelling in my ankles, and blood vessel damage, with the PF. Needless to say, no more vitamins for me!
oh! I don't know my son's ankles and feet are swelling and we don't know why. He said it's maybe sugar and salt seems to make him do that. He's barely ever on his feet and just recently started complaining about them hurting.
ExcellentEagle1435 salt swells. But I dont know if its that much. Dr time
might have to try to creatine I've been taking that much magnesium for sleep for years.
Magnesium is not only for sleep , it also repairs cellular formation
To start with I didn't say it was only for sleep I said I've been using it for sleep it is also for muscle cramps etc
what did dr say about cyst.
try soaking in Epsom salts. Not perfect but it helps. Dr said it's ok. Today told me to stretch out calfs.
It could be effecting your hips. Your walk posture. Flat feet is not fun. Im one of those.
I need a podiatrist in this area.
I had it on my left foot 2 years ago, now it's on my right foot. Gets frustrating.
I’ve been taking collagen supplements for 4 years now and still developed PF 6 months ago.
Mine has only been in the right foot , in perimenopause but have had this off and on since my 40’s. I think mine is related to a bad sprain in that foot that messed up things
Have you had an xray on that heel? You may have developed a bone spur.
I had Plantar Fascitis 11 years ago, it went away on its own, after 2 months, now it's come back, but just on the right foot, the only thing that eases the pain, is a cheap £10 pair of crocs from Shoe Zone. Have been doing the foot exercises and using a ball
fantastic. Not fair
good!!! Nice job
ABCs. Hmm thankyou....just trying to keep my blood going to my tendons.. did heel raises this afternoon. My calfs am feet hurt. Along with my hips.
thank you. Pray your feet are painfree. 🙏
sorry to hear that. It wasn't PT that told me about the AC's and actually was my chiropractor. If you've never had acupuncture I would recommend it because it's a whole lot less painful than dry needling. They also do dry needling there when I got 80% better I jumped over for the dry needling and asked him to get lidocaine numbing cream before he stuck the needle in me and he actually did that but by the time he did the second treatment I had to have hammer toe surgery which is when my left foot started to get painful again but now it's better with plantar fasciitis. Once I get better from my retina surgery I will go back to the chiropractor maybe once every couple of weeks or once a month just keep me maintaining recovery. If you haven't done acupuncture or even dry needling I would recommend trying them but you have to go several times before you see the effect most people leave after one or two sessions and they don't see it working for them. But that is why you have to keep going
in the ABC exercises were recommended by the chiropractor. He said you do a letter going through the alphabet with each foot one foot does a other foot does b all the way to Z and then the next night you switch it this keeps the foot exercising and all the movements
yeah I was taking collagen it did absolutely nothing for me for my foot anyways.
