62 years old, my first bout with horrible plantar fasciitis
62 years old, my first bout with horrible plantar fasciitis in my right foot. Pics are to show my extremely high arches. Before I spend hundreds more dollars I would love to connect with some of you who have high arches like me. I have already purchased several brands of shoes which only make the pain worse. Hokas, Brooks, Ooifos, etc. I think I developed the PF because my left hip has been hurt and I was limping for about a year. Just had hip replaced and it’s doing great but my right foot is doing worse. Reading all kinds of stuff about how to help myself, probably too much!. Many schools of thoughts say orthotics do not work and they are a crutch and I need to work on strengthening and stretching. The bummer is I got my hip replaced so I could continue hiking which I love so much but now I can barely walk around the block. Current things I’m doing are infrared therapy (Just started), stretching and strengthening calf and feet (Dr. Angela Walk method just starting), ordered a supportive wrap off Amazon. Considering zero drop wide toe box shoes. Do I completely stay off my foot for a while? What are your experiences with orthotics? Should I see an actual podiatrist or is Physical Therapy sufficient? I’m still healing my hip and so it comes first, but are there many things I can do in the way of exercise to help it other than walking (which is what’s best for my hip). See less
