About a month ago, I could barely stand or walk because of severe heel pain. It started as what I thought was muscle strain in the middle of my foot, but eventually the pain became so intense that even taking a few steps was difficult. I suspected plantar fasciitis and was honestly feeling frustrated. Instead of looking for a quick fix, I decided to focus on making small, consistent lifestyle changes. I started intermittent fasting with an eating window from 12 PM to 8 PM. I also reduced my sugar and carbohydrate intake, although I'm still working on cutting back my daily milk chai with coconut sugar and my favorite seasonal mangoes. I incorporated online guided yoga sessions into my daily routine, and they have been a game changer for me. The stretching, flexibility, mobility, and strengthening exercises have helped tremendously with my plantar fasciitis recovery. What I like most is that the sessions are guided and offer modified versions for different ages, fitness levels, and physical limitations. Since I have knee and back issues, that has been especially helpful. Beyond helping my foot, I've noticed other benefits too. I'm sleeping better, feeling calmer, working toward weight loss, and gradually becoming stronger and more toned. Before this, I used to search YouTube for different stretches and struggled to stay consistent. Now everything I need is incorporated into one guided session, making it much easier to stick with the routine. For me, it's been well worth it, especially considering it costs only a fraction of a typical gym membership. Another thing that seems to have helped is using a foot and calf massager. I spend extra time on the areas where the pain is most intense, and I feel that has contributed to my recovery as well. It's been about 25 days now, and for the first time I can honestly say I'm seeing progress. I'm not completely pain free yet, but I can stand and walk much better than I could a few weeks ago. My foot fatigue has reduced by about 80 percent, and that alone has given me hope that I can make a full recovery if I stay consistent. I'm still in the middle of my recovery, but I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else dealing with plantar fasciitis or chronic heel pain. Healing takes time, and when you're in pain every day, even small improvements are worth celebrating. My next goal is to add strength and resistance training to my routine so I can continue improving my overall fitness and hopefully prevent this from coming back.

Many of you gave me good advice when I asked about walking the Camino de Santiago with PF. Well I ignored some of it 😁 and walked it anyway. We completed our Camino in June, and we have been back in the US for about a week. It was hard. There is no denying that, but I’m glad I did it. It was an amazing experience even with the PF. So now I’m trying to figure out how to rehab so we can walk another Camino route in the spring. I’ve had an MRI, which showed only “thickened plantar fascia consistent with PF”. I still have significant heel pain such that I can’t really come down on my heel when I walk. The pain is the worst in the front center of my heel where the fascia attaches. It’s improved only slightly in the last few weeks of not walking much. I’d like to do the Dr. Angela Walk protocol, but I don’t know if I’m ready to start it. Should I start easing into it now or should I want until I’m able to walk more normally. Any and all input appreciated.

Has anyone ever had shockwave therapy paid by insurance? I have Medicare and a secondary policy with BCBS but when I I googled it, said insurance does not cover it. I have had 2 treatments for it at PT office and I wasn’t told in advance it may not be covered. Now wondering how much I will owe.

I know a lot of people ask how long did it take to heal. My question is, it it even possible to heal when you are on your feet for 8-8.5 hours a day for work, walking over 10,000 -14,000 steps daily on concrete, and only sit for a 40 minute lunch break? To me, that seems impossible but I am hoping someone can share their experience?

Deep tissue laser
I've got PF and bursitis. Exercises from podiatrist made the pain worse, especially heel drops. Had deep tissue laser 4 times at sports medicine clinic and am pain free all day until about 8pm, then it comes back. I'm thinking about going to traditional PT to get some exercises to do at home bc I'm worried the laser will wear off. I've had this since March. Anyone else have the laser help them? This is my cat, Roman. I also wear oofos slides, they are the onl
