Going for a 2nd opinion tomorrow. Been dealing with this for 2+ years and trying to avoid surgery if at all possible. This office also does Shockwave therapy. Thoughts? Wish me luck

Do not do surgery

Community comment#2

Melody.... why do you say do not do surgery?

Shockwave saved me! A lot of it, but it's working!

Not covered by insurance 👎🏻 I did seven sessions ($300) most relief I got was 4days. The thing that has finally helped me was my third injection by my 2nd foot doctor and wearing a boot for two weeks

I've had 10 rounds of soft wave therapy, which is the more mild Shockwave version. No help at all. $1,400 out of my pocket. I've been told that the more intense version where they actually have to knock you out or numb your leg is much more effective. I'm giving PRP a try before I think about surgery. If you end up going to surgery route, talk to your doctor about gastrocnemius release before you go the fascia release route. If take calves are your problem. That has a more favorable outcome than fascial release.

Tape your feet with zinc oxide tape. 24/7 for 6 weeks. Made me completely pain free for over 5 years. Unfortunately the cause of my PF is hypermobility which you can’t cure. The first time I was completely pain free for 11 years

I had tenjet procedure Dec 17. Walked out in a boot, ditched it on day 2. Walked my dogs 2 miles on day 5. Some tenderness lingered a few weeks, now I can't remember the last time it felt tender. Physical therapy guy at 4 weeks said i have no deficits, dont need to come back. Great experience.

I don’t even know if I have PF I went in September to have some bones crushed and some cyst in both of my feet and right in the middle of my foot where he took the needle and punctured everything. It was bruised for weeks and right there is where it is so sore when I get up in the mornings, but for some reason, it has ran up my right leg around my thigh so I put tape on it yesterday like they did my foot and that seem to help it feel a little bit better so to be honest, I don’t know what the hell I have

I had the planta fascia release 🤷 I think that's what it was called. I had it on a Thursday and I was back at work on the Tuesday. But I work in an office. The only pain I had was where I had the op, all the pf pain is gone 👍 I had pf for over 3 years

I found the stretching was making mine worse! I do calf raises now, heat every night, and I have a vibration trainer I use daily. My next shockwave will be 3 weeks from the last treatment and I'm not feeling too bad!

I would say focused, it looked liked a ultrasound wand and they stayed on my heel and maneuvered it when I would feel a cramping sensation. They stayed on that area until it calmed down.

I totally understand how you’re feeling, at my last appointment when I got my third injection, I was ready to have him book the surgery. He said I see that you have tried everything, before I went to him I had already done physical therapy, taping ( i’m allergic to the adhesive) insoles injections, ultrasound and the night splints. When I started with the 2nd foot Doctor Who is an orthopedic surgeon he had me try dry needling, and then suggested the shock therapy. At my last appointment when we were going to talk about surgery, he said I will consider you for surgery, but let’s try my concoction of medication in the injection with a boot for two weeks. I wore the boot for two weeks and have been out for a week, going on week 2, NO pain I couldn’t tell you what was in the shot. But I’m expecting the pan to return but I’m excited to have it gone. I go back on the 18th most likely to do the right side. My left was my worst side always at a 7-9 daily!! Right side most days could be at 3-5 (pain scale) I really hope you find relief!!

yeah that's cheaper than what I've been seeing. Do you know what type of shockwave it was? Radial, focused or something else?

I encourage you to get a second, third, fourth opinion from all sorts of healthcare providers. I ran the gamut of all classic treatments to no avail. I saw my GP, podiatrist, 2 physiotherapists, osteopath, massage therapist and finally a sports med physician. They all had something different to offer. What finally got me on the road to recovery was the Sportvis injection and massage therapy

I had my 3rd shockwave therapy session a few days ago and for the first time in a long time I can now put weight on that foot and the pain is almost gone. Its still a little tender but feels so much better.Ive also religiously being doing stretches and taping my ankle.

Can a bone spur cause P.F. And if so how do you get rid of pain

Community comment#36

Psoriatic Arthritis??

Shockwave didn't work for me. Insist on getting an MRI done. I switched docs, had an MRI 10 days ago and found out I have a torn plantar at the insertion point on my heel. This was 3 1/2 years and 4 doctors later. Just a suggestion but I'm finally feeling better. Ive been in a boot for a week and starting to return to shoes with zero drop soles and wide toe box. Best wishes in healing.

I did high intensity shockwave, right foot was pain free after one round, left foot was 60% better after one round, 80% better after two rounds. I may do a third at some point on the left but it is pricey and right now I’m managing pretty well with 80% pain relief

Shockwave plus dry needling in my calf have been game changing for me

Shockwave worked first 2 treatments but then nothing, I have been recommended to do acupuncture or cupping

Look up and research Plantar fasciitis Embolization procedure. It’s a new procedure and I’ve had fantastic results with both feet. I had my left foot done last January 2025 and at the time there were only 6 doctors performing it here in the US and 13 in the world. While there are more doing them now, it’s still a very small number. Check your area for a provider and consider making an appointment for a consultation to see if you’re a candidate. I just had my right foot done this past Tuesday 2-3-26 and it is already greatly improved. I even went shopping for several hours Saturday with my daughter. My left foot is still completely pain free at a year post procedure.

I'm not sure it was what my GP sent me for. But I have osteoarthritis fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis so they thinking could be something to do with those that's triggering it

can you share how you taped it? I've looked online and so many different ways to tape for PF. I used KT tape and it actually felt worse

..Hi there...so where exactly did you get this procedure done and if ya don't mind me asking..is it really expensive ? And do ya know where are these 6 Docs in the US are located..and how can I find out ? Thank you much
