Saw my new Dr today and he confirmed plantar fascitis and a peroneal tendon injury Anyone else deal with both and what helped you? He suggested or was pushing for the shot but from past experience this never worked for me Is it really painful in the foot ? Did it help you at all ?

I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I got PF last October at the same time I was diagnosed with Graves as well, unusual, but maybe not so much, a thyroid condition that basically has thyroid go bonkers. Told endocrinologist I got PF, they didn't say anything. Did all the exercises, massages, oils, soaks, you name it and it didn't go away. Went to two podiatrists. Told them I'm dealing with thyroid issue and feel they are connected, didn't say anything. I was given steroid injections and no real course of how to take care afterwards. I just feel like no one really stops to connect things and really treat things properly. We are all here trying this and that, but bottom line, if we don't find out what is really our particular problem ourselves, we could be doing more damage. I finally had to go research and learn more about thyroid hormones and tissues in the feet. Things that are suggested for PF are actually not good with the condition. Steroid shots can actually make things worse and certain exercises need to be held off. No doctor, endocrinologist or podiatrist, ever stopped to think I should know these things. So I'm thinking I've made my condition worse and may have actually done more damage. So if you have hashimotos, make sure you look into what physically is happening and take care of your own health because doctors aren't doing it like they should. So now I'm using the Kolrez sleeve to protect the tissues when working taking off every four hours, and not do any weight bearing exercises for awhile. Podiatrist said I could run in a few days! I am adding a little article in comments on Hashimotos and PF. I may not really heal until I am fully recovered from Hashimotos/Graves....

Even when_y thyroid test levels are "normal," you may not have optimal thyroid function, and your thyroid may be contributing to your Plantar Fasciitis symptoms. Your thyroid doctor may be able to recommend an adjustment to your medication to improve your thyroid levels.'. Hypothyroidism even mild cases of subclinical hypothyroidism is associated with edema in the hands and feet. Edema is swelling that results from fluid accumulating in tissue. Fluid buildup around the nerves in the plantar fascia can trigger plantar fasciitis. Tendons are also rich with receptors for thyroid hormones. When you're hypothyroid, the tendon's thyroid receptors may be shortchanged by a lack of sufficient thyroid hormone, increasing the risk of tendon- related medical conditions known as tendinopathies -such as frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, and plantar fasciitis.'
