My wife and I did the Stern factory tour yesterday. Transfor

My wife and I did the Stern factory tour yesterday. Transformers Pros and a few LEs were on the line. It was really cool to see how these machines are built from start to finish. The Stern team was great and the tour is something I highly recommend for any pinball enthusiasts. We love pinball and our kids are huge Transformers fans so we were going to buy our first LE machine—despite the decision to pull transforming Optimus at the 11th hour. Because this is such a big purchase for us we wanted to see and play it before pulling the trigger, which is why we made the trip to Chicago and scheduled the tour at this time. During the tour we were told they had two Transformers machines in the showroom but one had just been sent off—I assume to the NW Pinball and Arcade Show—so there was just one machine to play. Well to the tour guide and our surprise, the second machine had been removed too. We did not get to see or play a finished product. I think this was a miss on Stern’s part. If you have a new release you are promoting you should make sure the showroom model stays in the showroom. Had we got to see it I would likely have been online with my distributor paying my deposit before we left the factory. Now we will be waiting until we can see an LE or Premium on location to decide. Of course maybe it is a blessing in disguise with JJP’s Sonic about to be released. I only have money and room for one. A final note, it was really refreshing to see how Stern cares about their employees. Working in a factory is not an easy job. But it was obvious Stern goes the extra mile to make sure their employees have a great work environment and know they are part of a team that brings joy to all of us in the pinball community.
